Ten priests of the diocese of Rome join Pope Francis for a
special lunch on Holy Thursday.
On Holy Thursday, the day in which the Church recalls the
institution of the priesthood, Pope Francis shared a moment of communion with
diocesan and religious priests serving in the diocese of Rome.
Ten pastors of Roman parishes were invited to join the Holy
Father for lunch, including one born in Romania, and another from the
Democratic Republic of Congo.
The lunch took place in the residence of Archbishop Giovanni
Angelo Becciu, Substitute for General Affairs in the Secretariat of State. The
priests told the Pope about their daily experiences, and the struggles they
face ministering to the people of God.
Pope Francis listened attentively to their stories, and left
them with two words of advice: be close to God and be close to the people; and
make sure the poor feel at home in their parishes.
