Amb Kotanski: Great expectations ahead of Pope's visit
to Poland
(Vatican Radio) “I am sure
that all those young people will bring from all over the world, will bring
(back) to their homes, Middle East to Africa the message of love and of courage
and also of Polish hospitality.”
This was the hope of the
Polish Ambassador to the Holy See, Janusz Kotanski speaking about the visit of
Pope Francis to Krakow for World Youth Day (27th to 31st July).
The Ambassador said
expectations were high in Poland ahead of the Pope’s visit and he also said
that following a meeting with the Holy Father, the Pope told him that he was
“eager to meet with all those young people not only from Western Europe, but
from Central Europe, from Eastern Europe, from Ukraine, from the Middle East
from countries all over the world.”
“In Poland”, said Ambassador
Kotanski, “people really love Pope Francis, they don’t know him…only from TV
and from some pilgrims who are coming every week to Rome, but they can see that
he’s, well very much like, we are saying as our Pope John Paul II.”
The Ambassador went on to say
that he was sure, “that after those few days the love of His Holiness and those
great expectations of young people from Poland and all Europe and all the world
will meet and that something great will happen…”
