The Armenian genocide, 24
April 1915-2018
Today marks the 103rd anniversary of Metz Yeghern, the Great
Evil, described as the horrific massacre of innocent people in Armenia. Many
historians say up to 1.5 million Armenian Christians were killed by Ottoman
Turks in 1915. Pope Francis on 12th April 2015, in St. Peter’s square,
commemorated the 100th anniversary of the slaughter of Armenians, and
courageously and unequivocally called it “the first genocide of the 20th
century'' and urged the international community to recognize it as such.
