Criminal trial in Vatican: Chaouqui changes attorney

(Vatican Radio) Criminal court proceedings continued on Monday, with one defendant, Francesca Immacolata Chaouqui, making a change in her legal representation and receiving a five-day window to make new filings with the court. The information was conveyed via Communiqué from the Press Office of the Holy See on Monday morning.

Communiqué from the Press Office of the Holy See on the second day of the trial for the dissemination of sensitive documents and information

This morning at 9:40 AM Rome Time, at the opening of the hearing, the President of the Vatican City Tribunal, Prof. Giuseppe Dalla Torre, announced that the defendant, Francesca Immacolata Chaouqui had chosen Attorney Laura Sgrò to replace her corut-appointed attorney, Agnese Camilli. Attorney Sgrò asked for no less than a five days’ continuance to prepare her defense.

After a recess for deliberations, the Tibunal granted Sgrò until Saturday, December 5th, 2015, to make official filings, and set the date of the next hearing for Monday, December 7^th, 2015, at 9:30 AM Rome Time.
