Syria: Fighting displaces over
100,000 as Turkey presses offensive

Turkey pressed its military offensive against the Kurds in
northeast Syria on Saturday, with at least 30 innocent civilians killed so far
and 100,000 people already displaced by the violence.

Turkish troops moved on Saturday to seize key highways that
link towns in northeast Syria.
It marks the 4th day of the Turkish
offensive against Kurds living near the border in Syria.
Turkey says its goal is to push back Syrian Kurdish People’s
Protection Units at least 20 miles from the border. Turkey considers the YPG a
terrorist organization.
Dozens dead, thousands dispersed
At least 30 civilians have so far been reported killed in
the violence.
The United Nations said Saturday that at least 100,000 people
have been driven from the towns of Ras al-Ain and Tal Abyad alone, where the
heaviest fighting is going on.
Condemnation
Several countries have condemned Turkey’s military
offensive.
The Arab League called the Turkish operation “an invasion of
an Arab State’s land and an aggression on its sovereignty.”
Iraq, Lebanon, and the United Arab Emirates have all called
on Turkey to withdraw its forces and to leave the Kurds in peace.
