'Nostra
Aetate': stepping back in time
(Vatican
Radio) Wednesday 28th of October marks half a century since the ‘Declaration on
the Church’s Relations to Non-Christian Religions’, known as ‘Nostra Aetate’,
was promulgated by Blessed Paul VI on that very same date at the time of the
Second Vatican Ecumenical Council.
Among
those to witness this ground-breaking event was Nigerian Cardinal Francis
Arinze who was to serve as President of the 'Pontifical Council for
Inter-religious Dialogue' from 1984 - 2002.
In
this programme which is part of a series by the title of ‘A Scrap Book in
Sound’ you can listen to excerpts from the sound recorded by Vatican Radio’s
engineers on that occasion.
