PROMULGATION OF DECREES OF THE DICASTERY FOR THE CAUSES OF SAINTS, 25.11.2024

 

Promulgation of Decrees of the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints, 25.11.2024

 


During the audience of 25 November 2024, granted to His Eminence Cardinal Marcello Semeraro, prefect of the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints, the Supreme Pontiff, previously informed of the positive result of the Ordinary Session of the Cardinals and Bishops on the miracle attributed to the intercession of Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati, lay faithful of the Third Order of Saint Dominic, born on 6 April 1901 in Turin, Italy, and died there on 4 July 1925, authorized the promulgation of the relative Decree.

In the same audience the Holy Father also authorized the same Dicastery to promulgate the Decrees regarding:

- the miracle attributed to the intercession of Blessed Maria Troncatti, professed religious sister of the Congregation of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, born in Corteno Golgi, Italy, on 16 February 1883 and died in Sucúa, Ecuador, on 25 August 1969;

- the martyrdom of the Servant of God Francis-Xavier Tru’o’ng Bǚu Diệp, diocesan priest, born on 1 January 1897 in Tân Đúrc, Vietnam, and killed in hatred of the faith on 12 March 1946 in Tấc Sậy, Vietnam;

- the martyrdom of the Servant of God Floribert Bwana Chui Bin Kositi, lay faithful; born on 13 June 1981 in Goma, Democratic Republic of the Congo, and killed there in hatred of the faith on 8 June 2007;

- the heroic virtues of the Servant of God Josip Lang, titular bishop of Alabanda and auxiliary of Zagreb; born on 25 January 1857 in Lepšić, Croatia, and died in Zagreb, Croatia, on 1 November 1924.

Confirmation of cult (equipollent beatification)

Lastly, Pope Francis authorized the Dicastery to promulgate the Decree on the confirmation of the immemorial cult of the Venerable Servant of God Joan of the Cross (century: Juana Vázquez Gutiérrez), professed religious sister of the Third Order of Saint Francis, Abbess of the Convent of Saint Mary of the Cross in Cubas, Madrid; born in Villa de Azaña (now Numancia La Sagra), Spain, probably on 3 May 1481 and died in Cubas de La Sagra, Spain, on 3 May 1534.
