The Vatican Film Library
celebrates its 60th anniversary
Sixty years ago, Pope John XXIII established the Vatican
Film Library so that the Holy See’s filmmatic memory could be collected and
preserved. Vatican Media presents a Web Documentary in honour of this
anniversary.
16 November 1959 saw the birth of the Vatican’s Film
Library. Sixty years later, it has collected and preserved approximately eight
thousand films. To honour this anniversary, Vatican Media presents a Web
Documentary highlighting some important moments and some important film
memories it preserves.
