Pope Francis venerates icon of Salus Populi Romani
after Mexico trip
(Vatican Radio) Pope Francis
stopped at the Archbasilica of Saint Mary Major after arriving in Rome from
Mexico on Thursday afternoon. His plane landed at Rome’s Ciampino Airport, and
the Holy Father went by car to the Basilica, before returning to the Vatican.
During his brief visit to the
Church, Pope Francis placed a bouquet of flowers in front of the Marian Icon,
Salus Populi Romani. The Holy Father always venerates the icon before and after
his international apostolic trips.
