Salt and Light hosts roundtable on palliative care in Canada

(Vatican Radio) Canadian media foundation Salt and Light on Friday will be airing a round-table conversation featuring interfaith leaders speaking on the “Dignity and Sacredness of the End of Life.”

The discussion will feature Rabbi Baruch Frydman-Kohl, Cardinal Thomas Collins of Toronto, and Imam Dr Abdul Hai Patel, and will be hosted by Fr Thomas Rosica, CSB, the founder of Salt + Light.

Entitled “Towards a Comprehensive Pan-Canadian Palliative Care Strategy,” the conversation will centre around end-of-life care, especially in light of new Canadian legislation on end-of-life issues – especially with regard to the so-called “right to die,” a euphemism meaning the right to control the circumstances in death. Participants in the round-table will discuss true palliative care, and authentic medical and pastoral care for the dying.
