importance of this call to prayer.

Following the recitation of the Marian Prayer on Sunday in
St Peter's Square, the Pope noted that the 7th of October is the feast of Our
Lady of the Rosary, and he addressed a special greeting to the faithful
gathered at the Shrine of Pompeii for the traditional prayer, presided over on
this occasion by Cardinal Mario Zenari, Apostolic Nuncio to Syria.
He also renewed his invitation to the faithful to "pray
the Rosary every day in October, concluding with the antiphon "Under your
protection" and the prayer to St Michael the Archangel, to repel the
attacks of the devil who wants to divide the Church.”
Bishop John Keenan of Paisley in Scotland spoke to Vatican
News about the importance of this Marian prayer at this time.
